Higher Level Supervisory Visit to Sri Aviation Unit South Sudan
The higher level supervision visit of the Sri Lanka Aviation Unit in United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) was conducted by the Director Ground Operations (DGO), Air Vice Marshal  KFR Fernando from 16th to 20th December 2017. The Contingent Commander Wing Commander KAPS Kuruwita welcomed the DGO and Group Captain DWR Jayawardana at the Bor Airport and escorted them to the UN compound where the Sri Lanka Aviation Unit is situated. After welcoming to the contingent with a street line, the DGO declared open the newly constructed Sri Lanka Aviation entrance pandal to commemorate the event. Thereafter, the Contingent Commander presented him with a briefing on the role and function of the Unit.

On the following day the DGO inspected all sections of the Sri Lanka Aviation Unit and also the newly constructed Sri Lanka Aviation hangar premises at the Bor Airport. The visit was followed by a welfare conference and a social interactive session during the evening hours with all ranks.

During the stay at Bor UN compound, the delegation made visits to all contingents of Troop Contributing Countries, which included Indian Battalion, Korean Horizontal Mechanical Engineering Corp, Ethiopian Battalion, Nepal Formed Police Unit and the Sri Lanka Army Level II Hospital. They also paid courtesy calls on the Head of Field Office and the Sector Commander East of the Jonglei State.

The visit was concluded on 20th December 2017 after the delegation paid courtesy calls to the Force Commander and the Director Mission Support of UNMISS, at the UN House Juba.
