CHANGE OF COMMAND AT AIR FORCE ACADEMY CHINA BAY
The Change of Command of the Air Force Academy China Bay was conducted yesterday and today.
The traditional Handing Over/ Taking Over Parade took place yesterday (3 December 2020) where the outgoing Commandant, Air Vice Marshal R A U P Rajapaksa RSP and two Bars, USP, MSc (MOA) USA, MSc (Def Stu) in Mgt, MA in IS&S (UK), BSc (Def Stu), MIM (SL), rcds, psc handed over command to Air Commodore V B Edirisinghe WWV, RWP, RSP and three Bars, psc, qhi. Air Vice Marshal Rajapaksa will be proceeding to SLAF Base Katunayake where he will be assuming duties as the Base Commander.
During the parade the outgoing Commandant addressed the Academy and conveyed his sincere thanks for all personnel for the support extended to him during his tenure as the Commandant and expressed his acclamation for having had the rare opportunity to lead the illustrious Air Force Academy in the capacity of the Commandant.
The new Commandant, Air Commodore V B Edirisinghe assumed office this morning (4 December 2020) amidst religious blessings. He has also been appointed as the Eastern Air Commander of the SLAF in addition to his duties as the Commandant.
