GRADUATION CEREMONY OF NO 66 JUNIOR COMMAND AND STAFF COURSE

The Graduation Ceremony of No 66 Junior Command and Staff Course was held at the Junior Command and Staff College Auditorium, SLAF Academy ChinaBay this morning (10 April 2021). Air Vice Marshal HSS Thuyacontha, WWV,RWP and two bars, RSP and bar, USP, MMSc (Strat Stu - China), MSc (Def Stu), in Mgt, MSc (Def & Strat Stu), fndu (china), psc, the Director Training graced the ceremony as the chief guest.
The ceremony marked the end of the 14-week long course attended by a total of 31 Officers out of which 28 officers were from the Sri Lanka Air Force in the ranks of Squadron Leader and Flight Lieutenant, two officers were from the Sri Lanka Army and an officer from the Sri Lanka Navy.

Course No 66 was the third course to be conducted as a hybrid e-learning/contact class. After six weeks of e-Learning the officers arrived at the SLAF Academy China Bay and completed their contact phase of a further four weeks before the graduation ceremony. The officers proceeded for their Management Module for two weeks after arriving to the academy as an e-learning phase.

The JC&SC is accredited to the Kotelawala Defence University and the Officers who fulfil the required criteria will be offered with a Post Graduate Diploma in Defence Management.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Commanding Officer of the College emphasized the importance of applying the knowledge gained for the betterment of the Air Force and the nation and also stressed that integrity is a very high priority for Officers of the Sri Lanka Air Force.

All 31 Officers received certificates of completion and special achievement awards from the Chief guest.

Flt Lt SWDIN Samarasinghe (General Duties Pilot) received the special awards for Best Student in Academics, Excellence in Air Power Studies and the Best All Round Officer of the course while Sqn Ldr SCB Madurawala (Medical) received the award for Best Literature Review and Best Public Speaker.
 
Sqn Ldr BMHDK Abeyrathna (Logistics) received the award for Best in Management Studies whiles the award for the Best Sportsman was awarded to Lieutenant DMPM Wijesinghe (SL Army) with Lieutenant Commander WMPMB ERIYAWA (SL Navy) emerged as the best all-round officer in the non SLAF Category.
