Launching of Document Management System (Dms) to SLAF
7:10pm on Friday 1st June 2012
Information and Technology Unit of Sri Lanka Air Force in collaboration with Sri Lanka Air Force Station Diyatalawa launched a Document Management System (DMS) from 01st June 2012 within the Station. This system is introduced with a concept inspired by the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Harsha Abeywickrama with an eye to utilize the technology in a fruitful manner in the administrative functions to maintain smooth flow of  duties which would definitely help for the development of the organization.

The Station level operation system can be considered as the third layer of the command structure of the Air Force while the second and first layer are already in operation through the intra-mail system which is within the Bases, Stations and Units and top level being with the Board of Management in the Air Force respectively.

This is the first time that a Station of the SLAF is utilizing the Information Technology within the Sections and by all Officers, deviating from paper work. As far as administrative routine operations are concerned, DMS is a fully secured, high in efficiency, cost effective and very easy to correspond among the Station personnel through intra-mail facility of the Air Force.

This software programme was designed by Flying Officer M Perera from Information and Technology Unit as per the proposal made by the Commanding Officer Group Captain Janaka Amerasinghe, under the directions given by Chief Information Technology Officer (CITO) Group Captain AS Vithana with the intention to keep Air Force flying high in the world of modern technology.
