‘Kayaking’ is the latest addition to the list of sports of the Sri Lanka Air Force. The Air Force Kayakers made their debut appearance at the recently held ‘4th NACKSL Sprint Kayak Championships’ organized by the National Association of Canoeing and Kayaking in Sri Lanka.  LAC Abeygunawardena SM was able to clinch a 3rd place in the Men’s K1 1000 meters event competing against the much experienced team from Sri Lanka Navy.

Meanwhile the Air Force Rowing team participated at the annual ‘Mora Sculling Championships - 2012’ Regatta held on the waters of the Beira Lake on Saturday 22nd September. The event was organized by the University of Moratuwa Rowing Club consisting of Single Sculls, Double Sculls, Quadruple Sculls and Coxless Pairs events for age groups and Open categories.

The Air Force coxless Pair rowing the Men’s Over 19 category was able to defend its title for the second consecutive year while the Men’s Open category was also dominated by the Sri Lanka Air Force oarsmen although they failed to clinch any wins in the final events. The Air Force Rowing team however emerged as Runners Up in the Men’s Open and the Men’s over 19 categories.
