The Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Kolitha Gunathileke, conducted the AOCs Annual Inspection of SLAF Base Vavuniya on the 28th April 2014.The Commander was welcomed to the base with a parade commanded by the Base Commander Group Captain Kapila Wanigasooriya following which Certificates of Commendations were awarded to Seargent Kumarasingha HKMUS (Ops Grd Sp I),Corparal Senavirathne DR (Plant Operator II), Corparal Kulasekara KMPM (Mail Nurse) and Mr. EWGR Bandara (Labourar Group II) for their meritorious contributions to the SLAF Base Vavuniya  in particular and to the Air Force in general.

The Commander inspected the sections of the Base, the three lodger formations viz. No. 111 UAV Squadron, No. 2 Air Defence Radar Squadron, No. 23 Regiment Wing and the SLAF Detachment Mamaduwa. The Commander also declared opened the newly established No. 2 Motor Transport Repair and Overhaul Wing.

Concluding the AOC’s inspection, the Commander addressed all ranks including the civilian personnel and commended their hard work to uplift the standards of the base and emphasized the need to contribute their best to the Air Force as well as to the motherland at all times.
