Annual Inspection at SLAF Academy China Bay
3:55pm on Monday 7th July 2014
The Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal  KA Gunatilleke conducted the Annual Inspection at SLAF Academy China Bay  on 3rd July 2014. The Commander reviewed the parade which was commanded by the Commandant, Air Commodore HMSKB Kotakadeniya.

At the parade, certificates of Commendation were awarded to 40162LACSenanayake SASP (Air Radio), 020087LACBandara WMGC (Ops Ground), 022669LACDhanapala BKSS (Plant Operator), 024196LAC Jafarulla U (Ops Agro), Mr. MujibRahuman (Storeman) and Mr. PT Habibulla (Labourer) for the valuable service they rendered to the development of the Academy and the Air Force.

The Commander also inspected the seven Lodger Formations located within the Academy: No. 1 Flying Training Wing, No. 6 Air Defence Radar Squadron, Junior Command and Staff College, Non Commissioned Officers’ Management School, Ground Training Wing, No. 24 Regiment Wing, Academy Hospital and Leisure and Recreation Wing.

During the inspection, the Commander declared open the historical Astra Cinema Hall which was built in 1945. The Astra Cinema Hall was redesigned and renovated whilst preserving the historical architectural value of the Cinema hall. The hall can accommodate 250 personnel for movies, dramas and conferences.

The Commander also declared open the new Helitours ticketing office at the air movement section for customers who wish to purchase tickets for air travel.

At the conclusion of the inspection, the Commander addressed Officers, Airmen and Civilian staff of the Academy.  While praising the commendable job they had done, he encouraged them to set and reach even higher goals.
