Squadron Leader Samantha Weerasekara was appointed as Deputy Chef de mission for the Sri Lanka contingent for the forthcoming South Asian Games in  Dakha during 29th Januarary 2010 to 9th February 2010.

This appointment was made by the Ministry of sports and the National Olympic committee (NOC) of Sri Lanka. He has a similar exposure in this field when he was appointed as the Ambassador for the Sri Lanka contingent for the 15th Asian Games Doha in 2006.

 Presently he is holding the appointments of Executive Committee Member of the National Olympic Committee and the Assistant Secretary of Sri Lanka Tennis Association.
