The 63rd’ ‘Base Day’ celebrations began with a parade held at the Base parade square SLAF Base Katunayake on 01st September 2014. The Base Commander Air Commodore SK Pathirana addressed the Officers, all other ranks, civilian staff and briefed the history of the Base, contributions to the humanitarian operation, future challengers and responsibilities towards the role and task of the SLAF.

Coinciding with the Base Formation day celebrations, all ranks breakfast was organized at the Base sports ground and ''Shramadana''programmes were  conducted at Lakshmi Children’s home at Valana, Sheshire Elder’s home at Katana and a cleaning programme was conducted  at General Hospital Negombo with the participation of Officers and all other ranks and the civilian staff of the Base.
