32nd Formation Day of the SLAF Station Batticaloa

An eventful day of community upliftment projects and religious activities marked the celebration of the 32nd Anniversary of Sri Lanka Air Force Station Batticoloa under the guidance of the Actg Commanding Officer Wing Commander BP Karunanayake together with all officers, other ranks and the civilian staff on 27th March 2015.

Coinciding with the Formation day celebrations, a Medical, Dental & Eye Clinic was conducted at the Karawetti village under the patronage of Gp Capt Athula Kaluarachchi. More than 600 people were immensely benefited from this project and approximately Rs. 1 million worth of medicine donated by philanthropists was given away free of charge. Further it was followed by a “Manioc Dansala” organized by the No 29 Regt Wing.  
 
The Formation day celebrations began with a working parade at the newly constructed parade square under the guidance of Gp Capt Athula Kaluachchi, a long felt requirement to the station.  The Parade was reviewed by the Actg Commanding Officer Wing Commander BP Karunanayake on 27 March 2015.In addition, the Station personnel arranged a blood donation campaign as a part of the Anniversary celebrations in collaboration with the District Hospital Batticola on 26th March 2015. During the campaign more than hundred personnel donated blood voluntarily.
 
The Formation day celebrations were concluded after the first ever Night Cricket tournament with the participation of Officers, Other ranks and civil staff where the Cpls and LACs became the joint champions.
