Outgoing Commander Bids Farewell

The outgoing commander of the SLAF, Air Chief Marshal Kolitha Gunatilleke, completed formal farewell visits to the bases of the SLAF on 12th June 2015.  Having started his tour from SLAF Base Anuradhapura, the Commander visited SLAF Base Vavuniya, SLAF Base Chinabay, SLAF Base Hingurakkgoda, SLAF Base Rathmalana and SLAF Base Katunayake.  During his visits, he bade farewell to the members and thanked them for their contribution in helping him to lead the SLAF to great heights during his tenure.

Air Chief Marshal Gunatilleke was formally dined out by the Officers of the Sri Lanka Air Force at a formal dinner at Katunayake, the evening of the 15th of June 2015.  Speaking at the occasion, the outgoing Commander spoke of his 35 years in the Sri Lanka Air Force and stated that for him the Air Force was like an extended family.  He recalled happy moments and sad, and stated that his family and he would always look back on his time in the Air Force with satisfaction and joy Thanking the assistance rendered him by all, he went on to wish the incoming Commander and called on all to contribute as much or even more towards making the Air Force a better organization and enabling it to meet the nation’s expectations.
