SLAF won the Gold Award at the Best Hackers competition

The Sri Lanka Air Force Cyber Security Operation Center, received the Gold and Bronze awards for the Best Hackers at the Hacking challenge 2015 organized by the Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Readiness Team  (SLCERT)at a ceremony held at the BMICH, today (03 November 2015).

A contest for IT professionals to test their information security skills in finding out vulnerabilities in the systems, exploiting them and hence taking precautions for securing them, this event was organized by Sri Lanka CERT|CC as a part of the Cyber Security Week 2015, the annual National event on Cyber Security. The Competition was held on 15th October 2015 with the participation of 16 teams representing the whole island.  The SLAF fielded two teams and the SLAF "BLACKFLYERS " emerged champions  while  SLAF " COPPERHEAD" emerged the 2nd runner up at this event.

The Commander of the Air Force Air Marshal Gagan Bulathsinghala attended the awards ceremony as Guest of Honour, while Director of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, Air Vice Marshal RJ Pathirage, Chief Information Technology Officer , Group Captain AS Vithana, were among those present.

The awards were officially handed over to the Commander of the Air Force Air Marshal Gagan Bulathsinghala by the Director of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering  Air Vice Marshal RJ Pathirage,  Chief Information Technology Officer  Group Captain AS Vithana, Tem Leader  Fg Off WALS Weerasinghe, LAC Senevirathne MM and LAC Senanayake SAST at Air Force Headquarters on 05 November 2015.
