Less than a year ago, the future looked gloomy for the people of Morawewa. With the threat of terror at their doorsteps, the community was forced live under constant uncertainty. But the bravery and the dedication of the Security Forces ensured that they now live a liberated life with high hopes for the future.

Realizing this, Sri Lanka Air Force has stepped up to make it a reality. SLAF Special Operations Group Peraru, who has always played a key role ensuring the safety of the area, working alongside the SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit, has embarked on several welfare projects to uplift the condition of the area.

REGIONAL SCHOOL DIVUL WEVA

The foundation stone for this School was laid by the Commander of Sri Lanka Air Force in the year 2009 on the invitation of the Chairperson of the SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit (SVU) Mrs. Nelun Goonetilleke.

Today the structure of the building is rising above the once terrorized land, and will soon provide much needed educational facilities for children of this once thriving community that was destroyed by terrorists.

The project is supervised and coordinated by SLAF Group Commander Peraru, Group Captain Leonard Rodrigo.

This project is based on a concept of the Chairperson SLAF SVU Mrs. Nelun Goonetilleke to ensure the fundamental right of children to have access to quality education.
