30th and 31st Basic Airborne Courses Passing Out Parade at SLAF Ampara

The passing out parade of 30th and 31st Basic Airborne men's and women's Courses, No 6 Rigger course was held at the Drop Zone, Sri Lanka Air Force Station Ampara today (22 April 2016).

A total of 83 para troopers pinned on their wings at the ceremony inclusive of Navy and STF personnel.

Commander of Sri Lanka Air Force Air Marshal Gagan Bulathsinghala graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while members from the Air Force Board of Management, Senior Officers of the Three Services, were also among the distinguish guests. Commanding officer of Sri Lanka Air Force Station Ampara Group Captain WMPD Fernando, Commanding Officer of Parachute training school Wing Commander Jagath Godakanda, the proud parents of the trainees were also present to witness the function.

The parade commenced with static line jumps of the trainees from an MI 17 Helicopter at 1000 feet. After that, Sky divers of the SLAF performed a magnificent show, exiting at 6000 height from the same Helicopter.  Squadron Leader MAV Gomes landed with the Air Force Flag.

A Drill display by the Air Force Colour Squadron added glamour to the parade. Also the Air Force Band displayed an attractive performance.

The Chief Guest pinned on the Paratrooper Wings of the trainees successfully completed the course. Corporal Bandara WJMC  and  Leading Aircraft Women Herath HMDA were adjudged the best para troopers of No 30th and 31st Basic Airborne Courses respectively.
