Second Flight Safety workshop for Officers

Second Flight Safety workshop for Officers for the year 2017 was successfully completed on the 1st of December 2017 at SLAF Base Ratmalana.

The workshop was organized by the Command Flight Safety Inspectorate of the SLAF to instill safety culture and safety awareness among officers directly and indirectly involved with Air Operations of the SLAF. Twenty Officers from 10 Branches (GDP, Tech Eng, E Eng, Ops Air, Admin, Admin Reg, Log, Medical, AFC and Admin Vet) who have not undergone a formal flight safety training took part in the workshop which commenced on the 27th of November 2017. This was the first time that an officer from Medical Branch took part in a Flight Safety Workshop. Well qualified SLAF personnel imparted knowledge to the participants which included Material Factor by Wing Commander CJ Hettiarachchi, CRM by Wing Commander RS Thiranagama, Safety Program Management by Wing Commander VGP Mahanama, Fire by Wing Commander WMA Kumarasiri, Aircraft Accident Investigation and Human Factor by Wing Commander WADC Wijesinghe, Aviation Physiology by Wing Commander GSS Perera, ‘BASH’ by Wing Commander KHDP Kasagala, ATC by Squadron Leader DLJRK Dodamgoda and Aviation Psychology by Squadron Leader EMCS Ekanayake.

Certificates for the course participants were awarded by the Command Flight Safety Officer Air Commodore RP Liyanagamage.
