Annual ‘Pirith Chanting’ Ceremony of SLAF

The Annual all-night ‘Pirith Chanting’ Ceremony to commemorate personnel of the SLAF who made the supreme sacrifice or, are missing in action during active service and to invoke blessings on their souls, was held on 03 July 2018 night followed by an almsgiving for 110 Venerable Maha Sangha today (04 July 2018) at SLAF Trade Training School, Ekala.

The ‘Reliquary’ (Karaduwa) was taken to the Trade Training School Ekala in a colourful procession and placed in the ‘Pirith Mandapa’ by the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Kapila Jayampathy. This special "Pirith Mandapaya" was designed to resemble the "Kelaniya Raja Maha Viharaya”.

Subsequently, an almsgiving was accorded to the Venerable Maha Sangha with the participation of the Supreme Mahanayaka of the Amarapura Nikaya, Aggra Maha Panditha Kotugoda Dhammawasa Thera.

Chief of Staff of the SLAF, Air Vice Marshal Sumangala Dias, members of the Air Force Board of Management, senior officers, other ranks, spouses and children of the SLAF war heroes, civilian staff and families also participated for the All Night Pirith Chanting Ceremony and the Almsgiving.
