Awarding of Flight Engineer, Air Surveillance Brevets and Fighter Controller Badges

An Engineering Officer and a Flight Engineering SNCO, five (5) Air Surveillance Airmen and five (5) Operations Air Officers received their Flight Engineers Brevets, Air Surveillance Brevets and Fighter Controller Badges respectively from the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Kapila Jayampathy today (30 October 2018) at AFHQ.

The flight engineers who received their brevets had completed training on the Mi-17 Helicopter, while the airmen who received their Air Surveillance Brevets had completed training on the Beechcraft. The fighter controller officers had successfully completed their fighter control training in Bangladesh and India.

  • Flight Lieutenant GKAD Rajapaksha (Qualified in India)
  • Flight Lieutenant KADS AThurugiriya (Qualified in India)
  • Flight Lieutenant WGWMSKA Weerakoon (Qualified in India)
  • Flight Lieutenant RPNS Pathirana (Qualified in India)

The Director Air Operations, Air Vice Marshal SK Pathirana, the Director Aeronautical Engineering, Air Vice Marshal MD Ratnayake, the Director Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, Air Commodore KAL Ranatunga and the Command Air Traffic Control Officer, Air Commodore SK Pallewela also attended the ceremony.
