Large Crowds on the Second Day of 'Air Tattoo 2019'

Air Tattoo 2019, the air show and the educational exhibition at SLAF Base Hingurakgoda continued for the second day when it opened free of charge to the public at 1400 hrs.

On its first day (2nd March 2019), after the ceremonial opening by His Excellency the President, Maithripala Sirisena, children as well as adults were seen thoroughly enjoying themselves. At the end of the first day of the exhibition an overwhelming crowd of over 39,500 had visited and enjoyed themselves. The musical extravaganza on the first day was by the well renowned “Seeduwe Sakura” while much more glamor was added by the Air Force Dancing Troop as well as singing performances by Ranaviru Real Start guest artists. The Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Kapila Jayampathy, the Chairperson of the SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Anoma Jayampathy, the Chief of Staff, Air Vice Marshal Sumangala Dias, the Organizing Committee Chairman of the “Air Tattoo 2019” and Director Air Operations, Air Vice Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana, members of the Air Force Board Management were present for the evening of rhythmic music and colorful dancing

On day 2, even larger crowds were seen heading eagerly to the exhibition grounds from morning. At the end of the second day the exhibition site was filled to capacity with the recorded entry of more than 50,000. Adding more significance to the event, the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Kapila Jayampathy also arrived for the evening musical extravaganza where the Air Force Eagles Band and Air Force dancers mesmerized the large crowd present.

Air Tattoo 2019, now on at Hingurakgoda, will continue today (4th March 2019), tomorrow (5th March 2019) and the day after (6th March 2019) as well from 1400 hrs to mid night. Today’s musical extravaganza will feature Purple Range and the Air Force Dancing Troop will once again add glamor to the music and make it a night to remember for the public who will be fortunate to witness the proceedings today. The Sir Lanka Air Force which has served the nation and has been the Guardians of the Sri Lankan Skies invites every one of all age groups to come join us and experience the might, power and wonder of Sri Lankan Military Aviation.
