Director Provost conducts Higher Level Supervision Visit of SL Aviation Unit, South Sudan (UNMISS)

The higher level supervision visit of the Sri Lanka Aviation Unit in United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) was conducted by the Director Provost, Air Vice Marshal MWTI De Silva from 22nd to 29th March 2019.

The Contingent Commander Wing Commander DS Samaraweera welcomed the visiting Director Provost at the Bor Airport and escorted them to the UN compound where the Sri Lanka Aviation Unit is situated. On 25th March 2019 Group Captain RADTM Weerarathne, Group Captain N Sapugastenna and Mr. WLIOM De Alwis Gunathilaka (Additional Secretary – MOD) arrived at Bor as the second phase of Higher-Level Supervision Visit. A social interactive session was held during the evening hours with all ranks.

On the following day the Contingent Commander presented him with a briefing on the role and function of the contingent and the visiting Director inspected all sections of the Sri Lanka Aviation Unit. The visit was followed by a welfare conference.

During the stay at Bor UN compound, the delegation made visits to contingents of Troop Contributing Countries(TCC), which included Korean Horizontal Mechanical Engineering Corps, Ethiopian Battalion and the Sri Lanka Army Level II Hospital.

They also paid courtesy calls on the Field Admin Office and the Acting Sector Commander East of the Jonglei State.

During the last day in Bor the delegation visited the Bor Town and the newly constructed Sri Lanka Aviation Hangar premises at the Bor Airport. The visit was concluded today (29 March 2019).
