Air Force Open Squash Championship 2010

The launching of the Air Force Open Squash Championship 2010 and press briefing was held yesterday (11th August 2010) at  the Air Force Headquarters Colombo.

The national ranking event will be held from 21st August to 28th August at the newly built six court complex at the Sri Lanka Air Force Base Ratmalana. The Hayleys Group of Companies will be the proud sponsors for the event which will be held for the 07th time.

It is expected that all nationally ranked men, women, boys and girls would participate. Further invitations have been extended to the Pakistani, Indian, Bangladeshi and Malaysian Air Force’s to send teams. This eight day tournament will consist of events which include men’s and women’s open, men’s intermediate (over 35), masters over 45, 50 years, boys and girls under 09, 11, 13, 15, 17, 19 and a plate event for men’s open losers in the first and second round and men’s, women’s novices.

All  those who are interested are invited to hand over their entries direct to the Sri Lanka Squash Federation Secretariat at Tamil Union C & A Club on or before 05.00 PM on 16th August 2010.  
    
The press briefing was chaired by the SLAF Director Dental services and Chairman of Air Force Squash, Air Vice Marshal Asoka Amunugama. Group Captain Roshan Biyanwila, Secretary of the Air Force Sports Council, Wing Commander Jaliya Jayasekara Secretary Air Force and Sri Lanka Squash Federation, Sri Lanka Squash Federations President Mr. Oliver Guruge, Vice President Mr. Rohantha Pieris. The General Manager of Hayleys Energy Services Lanka (Pvt) Ltd, the principle sponsors, Mr. Wasantha Sooriyarachchi  also attended.
