Commander's Inspection of SLAF Base Katunayake – 2nd Session

The Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sumangala Dias conducted the 2nd Session of the Commander’s Inspection of Sri Lanka Air Force Base Katunayake today (19 July 2019).

During the course of the inspection the Commander visited all remaining areas of the Base. Concluding the Commander’s Inspection, the Commander addressed all ranks of the Base including the civilian personnel.

During his address the Commander spoke about the enormous role played by the personnel of the Base in establishing normalcy in the area during the recent attacks on the Katuwapitiya Church. He also appreciated the effort taken to carry on the development tasks of the Base amidst the large security deployment in order to meet the national requirement. He stressed on the fact that the Katunayake Base being the largest in the SLAF plays a vital role in the SLAF’s operational and administrative capabilities. Finally the Commander commended the new Base Commander and his team for their hard work in preparing the Base to the standard required for the Commander’s Inspection.
