The Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sumangala Dias, conducted the Commander’s Inspection of SLAF Base Ratmalana today (11 October 2019).

The Commander reviewed the Commander’s Inspection Parade, commanded by the Base Commander, Air Commodore Sampath Wickremeratne. Certificates of commendation were awarded to following service personnel and civilians during the parade for their meritorious contributions to the Base in particular and to the Air Force in general.

During the course of the inspection the Commander visited all areas of the Base and appreciated the effort and the hard work in uplifting and maintaining the standards of the sections in particular.

Addressing all personnel of the Base, the Commander spoke about the evolution of the Base into one of the main Bases of SLAF since it was established by the Royal Air Force. Moreover, he appreciated the service rendered by all Officers and Staff of the Base to ensure the return to normalcy by conducting routine security operations after the Easter Attack of  21 April 2019. Further, the Commander emphasized the importance of maintaining personal discipline, maintaining a higher level of Comradeship and perform duties by sticking to the directives given by Civil and Air Force Laws. The Commander also joined in the customary All Ranks Lunch at the Airmens’ Mess with a cross section of Officers, Airmen, Airwomen and Civilian staff.
