The Air Force Open 07th Squash championship held from 21st to 28th of August with the participation of local and foreign participants concluded successfully yesterday (28th August 2010) at the new Sri Lanka Air Force Squash complex at SLAF Base Ratmalana.

In the men’s and women’s Open Championship Farhan Zamaan of Pakistan and Nirasha Guruge emerged victorious respectively. In addition the Indian and Pakistan players as well as the Army players displayed their prowess throughout the championship.

The Chief of Defence Staff and the Commander of the Air Force, Air Chief Marshal Roshan Goonetileke and Mrs. Nelun Goonetileke graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. While the Deputy Chief of Staff Air Vice Marshal Harsha Abeywickrama, Director Dental Service and the SLAF Squash Chairman Air Vice Marshal Asoka Amunugama, Acting Director Training Air Commodore Lal Perera, Base Commander SLAF Base Ratmalana, Air Commodore Sumangala Dias and the Chairman of Sri Lanka Squash Federation Mr. Oliver Guruge also graced the occasion.
