Sri Lanka Air Force Mamaduwa Celebrates Its 1ST Anniversary

            Sri Lanka Air force Mamaduwa  was established on 28 August 2009 in the Vavuniya district. The aim of the establishment was to cater to the metal requirement of “Northern Spring” ("Uthuru Wasanthaya") development projects . This Unit initaially established as a Detachment became Formation on 02 June 2010.   

The commemorative activity commenced with religious observances. A blood donation campaign was organised on the premises of   Sri Lanka Air force Mamaduwa and in addittion to SLAF personnel, personnel from the other Armed Forces and Police participated.   

Sri Lanka Air Force Mamaduwa has succeeded in providing the metal requirement for the "Uthuru Wasanthaya" projects and also now provides metal for infrastructural devalopment of Military etablishements in the North and East.

The latest aim of Sri Lanka Air force Mamaduwa is to cater to the metal requirement to construct the Northern railway track and has now enhanced production capacity to meet the demand.

 Entire operation of the project handled by SLAF personnel who are qualified in explosives handling and also operation of heavy machinery.  

Sri Lanka Air Force Mamaduwa is Commanded by Squadron Leader PSW Molligoda and administration assistance provided by Flight Lieutenant RAMPR Dasanayaka. Group Captain HA Perusinha overseas the operation on behalf of AFHQ.

Acting Base Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force Base Vavuniya Wing Commander MJ Bandara graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
