SLAF Base Katunayaka Pre School Concert 2010

The annual concert and the graduation ceremony of the Preschool SLAF Base Katunayaka for 2010 was held on the 29th of November 2010.

37 children of Upper Kindergarten, who graduated as preschool leavers, together with 31 students of Lower Kindergarten and 12 students of Play Group displayed an attention-grabbing performance of dances, songs, nursery rhymes, and drama to make the evening unforgettable.

This Preschool concept which is an high educational recognized early childhood orientation method was introduced to the Air Force by the Chairperson of the Sri Lanka Air Force Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Nelun Goonetileke and has produced tremendous results over past few years. The notable specialty of these pre schools is, service personnel as well as the neighbors were also welcomed to enlist their little ones.



The English language is used as the language of orientation among the children and many other special learning criteria have been used for different intelligence levels of the children. Teachers qualified on early childhood development have been employed for teaching, using English as the medium of speech.

This event was a glorious and successful event which showcased to the entire community the importance of effective early childhood development for a better future for the children.    

The chairperson of the SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Nelun Goonetileke graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and Director welfare Air vice Marshal Anura Silva,  Mrs. Mekhala Silva, Base Commander of SLAF Base Katunayaka Air Commodore C R Gurusinghe, Mrs. Renuka Gurusinghe and Mrs. Christene Ranasinghe were among the distinguished guests. The parents of the children were also present to witness the event.
