No.04 Course Of Defence Services Command and Staff Collage Visits AFHQ

The staff and student officers of the course no 04 of Defence Services Command and Staff College, paid a visit to Air Force Headquarters for the address of Chief of Defence Staff and the Commander of the Air force, Air Chief Marshal Roshan Goonetileke.

The Director Air Operation, Air Vice Marshal Kolitha Gunathilaka welcomed  the visitors and delivered a presentation about the Air Force and its future plans. Then the Commander of the Air Force, Air Chief Marshall Roshan Goonetileke answered the questioned posed by the student officers after which he addressed them.

The event was held at the AFHQ auditorium where twenty members of directing staff headed by Major General NA Ranasinghe and 64 student officers of the three services participated.

The total contingent consisted   42 Army officers and 11 officers each from the Navy and the Air Force. They are following this intense academic program in which the students who will successfully complete the course  will be awarded the qualification of  ‘Passed Staff College’  which threafter they will carry as a  post nominal.

The Defence Services Command and Staff Collage is accredited to the University of Kelaniya and all Officers who fulfill the required criteria will be awarded  a Masters Degree in Defence Management. The student officers following this full time residential course which has duration of approximately one year are required to read the compulsory modules suited to fulfill command and staff duties requirements of the tri services.
