Married Quarters for Service Personnel Declared Open
The Commander of the Air Force Air Marshal Harsha Abeywickrama, declared open the newly constructed Multi-Storied married quarters complex located at Guwanpura adjacent to P.Sarawanamuththu Stadium Colombo 08 for the benefit of the SLAF service personnel on 25 th April 2011 at the auspicious time of 0830 Hrs.

The ceremony, which started with the arrival of the Commander of the Air Force, was followed by the traditional lighting of the oil lamp and chanting of 'Sath Pirith' by Maha Sanga. A commemorative plague was unveiled by the Commander who symbolically handed over the keys to the recipients of the new houses in the presence of their family members. The Air Force Board of Management was also present to mark the occasion.

The complex features two 7 storied buildings comprising apartments dedicated to Officers and Senior Non Commissioned Officers of the SLAF. Each building comprises of 28 apartments, with 3 bed rooms, bathrooms, dining/ living areas, pantry/kitchen, servant’s bathroom and 3 verandahs. Each building consists of its own parking facility reserved at the ground level.
