6:31pm on Thursday 23rd June 2011
The pre-school 'Ilan Kadirawan (young sun)' at 'Kepapilawu' which had been destroyed during the conflict  was reconstructed, re-furbished and handed over to the young flowers on 21st June 2011 by the Commanding Officer of SLAF Mullativu, Wing Commander Sulochana Marapperuma. Further stationery and equipment required were also given to the children as part of the efforts on the part of SLAF Mullaitivu in building relationships between local communities.

The humanitarian operations which successfully concluded secured Mullativu from the brutality of the LTTE. The establishment of SLAF Mullativu enhanced this protection and now attempts are being made to heal the wounds, sustained during the conflict which occurred over the past few decades.

The priest of the Wattapalai Kannagi Amman Kovil, GS Kepapilawu Mr. Sivalingam and Principle of Wattapalai Maha Vidyalaya Mrs. Kaushaladevi and the Officers and men who took an active part in making this event a reality were also present.

Furthermore, the festivities of the well renowned Wattapalai Kannagi Amman Kovil were also held on the 13th June 2011. Once again, under the patronage of the Commanding Officer, the entire surroundings of the kovil were cleaned and the area brought up to a good condition in preperation for the festival. In addition, a Bell 212 helicopter in an unusual role, released petals from above crowning the kovil with flowers on the day of the festival.
