SLAF Attacked the Army Defence

The Sri Lanka Air Force rugerittes defeated the army team comprehensively on 24th June 2011 at Havelock Park, marking their 2nd win in the Caltex Rugby Tournament.

SLAF went through the Army defence line nine times at jet speed, making the winning margin broader - 53 to 11 points at the end of full time. Good ball handling, co-ordination and efforts of the airmen led to a first half score of 36 points to 5.

Jayalal Harischandra scored two penalties in the first half and Thusuth Senanayaka kept a try to take the Army score to double figures.

For SLAF, Gayan Iddamalgoda, Pubudu Kodhagoda, Chanaka Gunarathna, Uchitha Jayasuriya, Ranjith Sansony, Kanchana Ramanayaka penetrated army defences in the first half whilst Chanaka Chandimal, Ranjith Sansony and Chanaka Gunarathna did the same in the second half. Airman Radhika Hettiarachchi converted four times out of seven.
