Sri Lankan Endeavor Strengthened By SLAF

Sri Lanka was placed second in the first ever South Asian Beach Games 2011 held at Hambantota beach from 8th to 14th October.

Over 400 competitors from 8 countries (Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka) took the challenge of competing in beach volleyball, Netball, Kabaddi, handball, Marathon Swimming, Basketball, Football, lifesaving, wind surfing and equestrian events.

Sri Lanka was placed second behind the India, with 9 Gold, 10 Silver and 9 Bronze medals.   

The Sri Lanka Air Force strengthened Sri Lanka’s endeavor of becoming the runners up of this first ever South Asian Beach Games. The SLAF members of the team together with their other team mates fought hard to achieve success. These members of the SLAF and the respective teams to which they belonged are shown below.
