The Sri Lanka Air Force men’s Water polo team became the National Champions whilst the women’s team finished as the Runner up at the National Water Polo Championship 2011 which was held at the Police Swimming Pool Narahenpita on 2nd November 2011.

 This event was organized by the Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Union and 2011 became the year in which a record number of teams participated. This makes the SLAF victory more important and it is the very first time that the SLAF water Polo team became National Champions.  

 9 teams representing the Sri Lanka Air Force, the Navy, the Army, the Police, SSC, Royal College and Ananda College took part in the men’s category. During the finals the men’s team defeated the strong Navy team by 9 goals to 8 whilst in the women’s encounter 6 teams participated and SLAF lost to Bishop’s college in the finals 8 goals to 6.
