No 07 Helicopter squadron and No 09 Attack helicopter squadron commemorated their war heroes by holding several religious ceremonies at SLAF Base Hingurakgoda during the last week. In the war era both the flying squadrons lost several of their aircrew in action. Therefore multi religious ceremonies were organized to pay tribute to those valiant heroes who made the supreme sacrifice in liberating the motherland.

The Islamic ceremony took place at Hathamune Jumma Mosque on 17th November 2011 and the Christian ceremony was held at the Hingurakgoda Roman Catholic Church on 18th November 2011. Meanwhile as Buddhist religious activities, a full night ‘pirith’ chanting was held on the same night and it was followed by an Alms giving on the next day at hanger premises of the No 09 Attack helicopter squadron.

Family members of the heroes and all personnel of the SLAF Base were participated in these events.
