Community Service Project Conducted By SLAF Diyatalawa

Nation building is one of the major responsibilities that members of the armed forces have to undertake during a post –war scenario. In giving the theoretical and practical experiences in the Nation Building it is required to train the newly enlisted personnel as a part of their training.

 Keeping the above objective in mind all trainees of No.40 Regiment Officer Cadet, No.54 Officer Cadet Initial and No.40 GIT Courses at SLAF Station Diyatalawa participated in a “Town Cleaning Campaign” in Diyatalawa on 08 January 2012. Approximately 500 trainees took part with the campaign conducted along the main road from Railway Station Junction up to the main entrance of SLAF Station Diyatalawa. The main activities of the campaign included removing garbage, clearing road shoulders and blocked drains, repairing damaged placed of pavement and beautification by painting and planting flowers etc.

This project was initiated under the instruction of the Commanding Officer and the supportive hand was extended by SLAF personnel to give Diyatalawa town a new facelift was highly praised by the general public
