Sky yoghurt project at SLAF Base Hingurakgoda was launched by Wing Commander Suresh Perera as a concept of the Base Commander Group Captain Udeni Rajapaksa in 2011. Presently it has already earned over One million Rupees during last six months and now it is in a process of upgrading into an automated low- fat yoghurt project.

On 15 January 2012 this project was re-launched at a new building with modern equipments as the first step of automation.

First time in the Sri Lanka Air Force SLAF Hingurakgoda was able to purchase a cream separator to produce low-fat yoghurt with the income of this project. With this new machinery, fat will be separated out of the yoghurt and can be used to produce butter as a by-product. As the second step it will develop in to a fully equipped milk pumping and cooling system and then as the third step, it will upgrade in to a fully automated yoghurt filling process. Second and third steps of this project will be completed by the end of this year.

After the completion of above mentioned steps, Yoghurt project at Hingurakgoda will be able to produce quality products, which can compete with the other leading and recognized Yoghurt companies in Sri Lankan market today.
