The personnel who are responsible for driving or operating the vehicle fleet of the SLAF. Initially an airman of this trade will operate light vehicles, Tractors and Trailers. With added experience they would graduate on to Buses and 07 Toner Trucks. On successful completion of a specialized course they would then take on the responsibility of operating specialized vehicle such as Cranes, Prime Movers with 40 Foot Trailers, Dump Trucks and Recovery vehicles. Instructional duties too will be the responsibility of the more specialized and qualified persons of this trade.

Qualifications

Passes in 06 Subjects at the G.C.E.(O/L) Examination at not more than two sittings including ordinary passes in Sinhala / Tamil languages. ( If Mathematics / Science is / are included in the six subjects Mathematics II, Science II for an applicant of year 1999/2000). Possession of a valid driving licence is essential.
