ABOUT THE AUDIT OFFICER
Description
The Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) recruits Internal Audit Officers (Male/Female) to its Audit Branch to oversee and strengthen financial governance responsible for auditing, monitoring and inspection of public funds, pay systems and financial records to ensure accuracy, transparency and proper utilization of resources based on risk based Annual Audit Plan. They play a key role in maintaining accountability by ensuring compliance with government financial regulations and Internal audit standards. The role often requires Academic and professional qualifications in accounting or auditing such as Management/ Commerce/ Business Finance Degree from recognized university and Chartered Accountancy (CA), CIMA-UK or CMA along with strong analytical skills and attention to detail to support effective financial management and decision making within the Air Force.
Duties and responsibilities
- Conducting financial, compliance and performance audits in accordance with risk based audit plans.
- Evaluating the adequacy and effectiveness of internal control systems to prevent errors, fraud and irregularities.
- Ensuring compliance with Government Financial Regulations, circulars and audit standards.
- Examining the proper utilization and safeguarding of assets and resources.
- Supporting management decision making through risk assessments and advisory assistance.

GCE O/L REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of six Credit (C) Passes at the GCE (O/L) examination with compulsory Credit (C) Passes for English language, Science, Mathematics and a Simple (S) Pass and above for Sinhala / Tamil language in one sitting (additional and optional subjects are not considered). Further, candidates who apply for technical type professions (Aeronautical and General Engineering Branch, Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering Branch and Information Technology Engineering Branch) with higher professional qualifications than required level, but with a Simple (S) Pass for GCE O/L English language or Credit (C) Pass at the second sitting will be considered for calling preliminary interviews.
Note: Holding NVQ level 3 or above or SLQF level 1 or above qualification is considered instead of O/Ls.
Special Note: Pearson Edexcel International General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) or Cambridge International Ordinary Level Examinations: Six grades in one sitting are compulsory including Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and English. The marks obtained for the grading is to be (equal or above) the lowest marks required for a credit pass in GCE O/Ls. Candidates who are applying with Pearson Edexcel International General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) and Cambridge International Ordinary Level exams without a Simple pass for Sinhala or Tamil language should obtain pass grading for Sinhala or Tamil language within 05 years of date of enlistment.
GCE A/L REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of three Simple (S) Passes at the GCE (A/L) examination from any stream in one sitting.
Note: Holding NVQ level 4 or above or SLQF level 2 or above qualification is considered instead of A/Ls.
For Pearson Edexcel /Cambridge – International Advanced Level Examinations - Must have obtained the minimum marks (Equal or above) which are required to obtain passes in GCE A/Ls for subjects specified separately for respective branches.
SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS
(1) Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce / Management / Accountancy or Business Discipline from the recognized University of Sri Lanka and Minimum one (01) to three (03) years of work experience in an audit sector or non-audit sector organization with one or more professional qualifications mentioned below.
(a). Fully qualified Chartered Public Finance Accountant of Association of Public Finance Accountants of Sri Lanka (Public sector wing of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka).
or
(b) Fully qualified Chartered Accountant of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka or similar qualification of Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) of UK
or
(c) Certified Management Accountant of Institute of Certified Management Accountants (CMA) of Sri Lanka.
or
(d) Certified Business Accountant (CBA) from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka or similar qualification of Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) of UK or Institute of Certified Management Accountants (CMA) of Sri Lanka.
(2) Certified Business Accountant (CBA) from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka or similar qualification of Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) of UK or Institute of Certified Management Accountants (CMA) of Sri Lanka with minimum one (01) year experience in an audit sector or non-audit sector organizations.
