ABOUT THE MOTOR TRANSPORT MECHANIC

Description   

Motor transport mechanics are responsible for the maintenance, repair and servicing of all SLAF vehicle fleets to ensure continuous and reliable transport operations. Their role is essential in minimizing vehicle downtime and maintaining roadworthiness under both routine and operational conditions.

Duties and responsibilities

  1. Conducting preventive maintenance and scheduled servicing of vehicles.
  2. Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults and carrying out repairs.
  3. Ensuring roadworthiness and safety compliance of all vehicles.
  4. Managing spare parts requirements and coordinating external repairs when required.
  5. Maintaining maintenance records and technical documentation

Nationality Must be a citizen of Sri Lanka
Age Not less than 18 years and not more than 22 years as at 01 August 2026.

Color Vision CP2
Visual Acuity 6/6 each eye (without spectacles and lenses)
GCE O/L REQUIREMENTS
Passes in 06 subjects at the GCE (O/L) Examination in not more than two sittings including Simple (S) passes in Sinhala / Tamil, Mathematics / Science.
or
Pearson Edexcel International General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) exam or Cambridge International Ordinary Level exams: Passes in 06 subjects in not more than two sittings. Passes are compulsory for English, all Science subjects (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology) or Mathematics.
and
Possession of NVQ Level qualification / Training from a Technical college or reputed institute and work experience in relevant fields will be an added advantage.
