Pilot Badge

Eligibility:

Have successfully completed both Basic and Advance Flying Training conducted by SLAF or have successfully completed both Basic Advance Flying conducted by a Military Academy Abroad.

Description

1. Embroidered on black background
2. Wings to be white colour with the letters "Sri Lanka" (in sinhala) in the center, surrounded by laurel wreath and surmounted by a National Emblem. Laurel wreath to be in brown colour. National Emblem and the letters "Sri Lanka" (in sinhala) to be in white.
3. The gap between badges and the inner design of the badges is to be 1/10". The length and the breadth of the badge to be 4" x 2"
4. Pilot Badge (miniature) worn with the mess kit jacket to be half size, gold embroidered on black background.
   

Wearing

1. When entitled to wear the Pilot Badge, it is to be worn on the left breast of the uniform shirt/jacket, immediately and centrally above the top of the breast pocket and in a corresponding position on the mess kit jacket.
2. When medals/ribbons with a space of 1/4 inch between the lowest part of the badge and the upper edge of the medals/ribbons.
   

Flight Engineer Badge

Eligibility:

Have successfully completed a formal Flight Engineer course as specified by the AFHQ.

Description

2. Outspread wing to be in white colour. Letter "E" in the center of the roundel, surrounded by laurel wreath. Laurel wreath to be in brown colour, the letter "E" to be in white colour.
3. The roundel is to be of 1" diameter. Length of the badge be 2 1/2. Gap between edges and inner design of the badge to be 1/10"
4. Engineer Badge (miniature) worn with the mess kit jacket is to be half size, gold embroidered on black background.
   

Wearing

1. When entitled to wear the Flight Engineer Badge, it is to be worn on the left breast of the uniform shirt/jacket, immediately and centrally above the top of the breast pocket and in a corresponding position on the mess kit jacket.

Have successfully completed a formal course of training in Air Communication as specified by the AFHQ.

1. The badge to be on right sleeve, 3 inches below the shoulder seam.

Sky Diver Badge

Eligibility:

Have successfully completed Sky Diver Course conducted either locally or training establishment abroad.

Description

1. Embroidered canopy at the top, which includes seven cells of which the extreme left and right cells to be in Blue. 2nd, 4th (Center) and 6th white and 3rd and 5th cells in light blue (as shown in the picture).
2. Total of eight codes (in black) to fold down from canopy to the bottom of the badge (as shown in the picture).
3. Trooper whose arms are extended sideways and legs extended backwards to be positioned below the canopy (as in the picture).
4. The badge to be outlined (edge) and embroidered in black. The rest of the badge to be embroidered in light blue.
   

Wearing

1. The badge to be on right sleeve, 3 inches below the shoulder seam.

Commando Badge

Eligibility:

Have successfully completed a Commando Course conducted by SLAF/SL Army or by a Military Establishment abroad.

Description

1. A knife flanked by two wings, embroidered on black background.
2. Badge to be of 1 1/2" diameter.
3. Commando badge (miniature) worn with the mess kit to be half size, gold embroidered on black background
   

Wearing

1. To be worn on the uniform shirt/jacket immediately and centrally 2/10" above the top edge of the right breast pocket and in a corresponding position of the mess kit jacket.

Explosive Ordinance Disposal (E.O.D.) Badge

Eligibility:

Have successfully completed a Explosive Ordinance Disposal conducted by SLAF or have successfully completed an EOD course conducted by a recognized institute abroad/locally.

Description

1. Embroidered on black background, Eagle to be of white colour. Letters "EOD" to be in gold colour. The Eagle and the bomblet to be in white colour.
2. Length and Breath of the badge to be 1 1/2" X 2 1/2" gap between the edge and inner design of the badge to be 1/10.
   

Wearing

1. To be worn on the uniform shirt/jacket immediately and centrally 2/10" above the top edge of the right breast pocket and in a corresponding position of the mess kit jacket.

Flight Controller Badge

Eligibility:

Have successfully completed a Flight Controller Course at a military establishment, either locally or overseas.

Description

1. Embroidered on black background. Outspread wing to be in white colour. The letters "FC" to denote Fighter Controller to be embroidered in white, in the centre of the black colour roundel, surrounded by laurel wreath. Laurel wreath to be in brown colour.
2. Length of the badge to be 2 1/2" X 2 1/2" and the black roundel is to be of 1" diameter. Gap between edges and inner design of the badge to be 1/10".
   

Wearing

Eligibility:

Have successfully completed the Primary Aerospace Medicine Course

Description

1. The badge depicts central design of brown staff and gold serpents flanked by on left white wing embroidered on black background.
2. Length and breadth of the badge are to be 1 1/2" x 1 3/4". The Gap between the edges and inner design of the badge are to be 1/10".
   

Wearing

1. To be worn on the Right breast of the uniform shirt/jacket, immediately and centrally above the top of the breast pocket and in corresponding position on the 1 B Kit.
2. Half size gold miniature badge embroidered in black background is to be worn on the mess Kit.
   

Aviation Physician Badge

Eligibility:

The Flight Medical Officers who has completed 05 Yrs and has sucessful in USAF Advance Aerospace Medicine Course or Advance Aerospace Medicine Training Course of RAF and or posses a Diploma Aviation Medicine or appropriate certificate.

Description

1. The badge depicts pair of wings on either side of the brown staff and gold serpents.
2. Length and breadth is the same as the Flight Medical Officer badge.
   

Wearing

1. To be worn on the Right breast of the uniform shirt/jacket, immediately and centrally above the top of the breast pocket and in corresponding position on the 1 B Kit
2. Half size gold miniature badge embroidered in black background is to be worn on the mess Kit.

Eligibility:

Worn by the most Senior Aviation Medical Physician, in the D of HS

Description

1. The badge depicts pair of wings on either side of the brown staff and gold serpents with a star on the staff.
2. Length and breadth is the same as the Flight Medical Officer badge.
   

Wearing

1. To be worn on the Right breast of the uniform shirt/jacket, immediately and centrally above the top of the breast pocket and in corresponding position on the 1 B Kit
2. Half size gold miniature badge embroidered in black background is to be worn on the mess Kit.
