Commander’s Annual Inspection of SLAF Academy China Bay
The Commander of the Air Force Air Marshal Harsha Abeywickrama conducted the Annual Inspection of SLAF Academy China Bay on 18th June 2011.
 
The Commander reviewed a parade commanded by the Commandant of SLAF Academy China Bay Air Vice Marshal Kapila Jayampathy. Further Group Captain Prasanna Ranasinghe, Wing Commander CJ Batagoda and PSN Fernando commanded the three wings respectively.

During the inspection, three newly constructed airmen holiday homes were opened by the Commander of the Air Force. Before concluding the inspection with the all ranks lunch, the Commander addressed a gathering of Officers, airmen and air women where he emphasised the value of their contributions to the SLAF and the importance of using available resources in an efficient manner.

The Marble Beach Holiday Resort was also inspected by the commander who gave necessary instructions to maintain the level of hospitability afforded at the optimum.  

The SLAF Academy comprises the Junior Command & Staff College, Combat Training School and Non-Commissioned Officers Management School which are primary training institutions of the SLAF. Further the No. 01 Flying Training Wing, which is also the nurturing ground for SLAF pilots, is based here.

The Academy moulds Officer Cadets into servicemen with character and confidence to take on the mantle of officering in the SLAF. In addition it also transforms recruits into potential Airmen to staff the diverse areas of work of the SLAF.
