The SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit under the patronage of Mrs. Neelika Abeywickrema its Chairperson conducted a Community Project at Vavuniya on 28 June 2012 by assisting the children of “Siriliya Sevana” Children’s Home at Vavuniya. 29 Children of the Children’s Home received Shoes, Bed Sheets and Pillow Cases and a host of other sundry items. They were also treated with a lunch courtesy of SLAF Base Vavuniya.

Base Commander Sri Lanka Air Force Base Vavuniya Air Commodore NV Gunarathne and Mrs. S Gunarathne, members of SVU SLAF Base Vavuniya along with Officers of SLAF Base Vavuniya participated at the event.

In the meantime, an awareness lecture on enhancing relationship between family members was organized for the Officers and All Ranks of SLAF Base Vna & their Spouses. The address was delivered by Professor Sarath Wijesooriya of the Faculty of Sinhala Studies at the University of Colombo. The Professor, who is famous for his verbal skill of delivering the subtle message on the importance of living a happy and content family life, delivered this message to the audience with a touch of humour.
