As directed by the President AFSC, the SLAF Boxing Committee conducted a Special Inter-Regiment Talent Identification Sparring Session between SLAF Regiment Wings, as an initial step towards identifying Sports talents from within the SLAF for Sports Pools.

For this Special Sparring Session, 110 Gunners from 21 Regiment Wings battled it out in the ring at SLAF Base Katunayake for four days which concluded on 16 Oct 14.

The Director Welfare AVM MLK Perera graced the occasion as the Chief Guest during the final day, while  Chairman Boxing AVM CR Gurusinghe, Base Cmdr SLAF Base Kat Air Cdre SK Pathirana and several other senior officials were also present.

SLAF Boxing Committee selected 16 Gunners  Out of 110 who participated for this Talent Identification Sparring Session.  They are scheduled to undergo a two-month training in order to select the best players.
