A total of 356 recruits from the 142th Regular and 100th Volunteer Course passed this morning (22 January 2010) at SLAF Base China bay after completing 18 weeks of challenging training. The training focused on drill, weapon training, tactics, field craft, map reading, fire fighting, explosive handling, Humanitarian Law, Air Force Law and Combat First Aid.
The Parade was commanded by Wing Commander DCI Weerasuriya, Commanding Officer, Combat training School, whilst Parade Adjutant was Flying Officer GPC Prasanna and Flight Sergeant Marasinghe acting as the Parade Warrant Officer.
Air Vice Marshal Kapila Jayampathy WWV, RWP,RSP& two bars,qhi, M.Sc (IR) the Commandant of the Sri Lanka Air Force Academy China Bay graced the occasion as the chief guest . Parents, family members of the airmen were a part of the large gathering that witnessed the parade. The personnel passing out also displayed their new skills in foot drill, unarmed combat, and bayonet assault.
