The Guwan Hamuda Papedi Sawariya 2015 was flagged off by the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Kolitha Gunatilleke this morning in front of SLAF Colombo.
 
Conducted to mark the 64th anniversary of the SLAF, this year’s race is the 16th such, and is sponsored by Abans Ltd.
 
The Mens’ race that commenced this morning will end its first stage at Matale today, covering a distance of 158km.  Approximately 150 riders started the race this morning.
 
The first leg was won by Nidush Nirantha (Air Force), with Budhdhika Warnakulasooriya (Air Force), CM Niran (SLPAA) finishing second and third respectively.

The second stage, spanning 144.9km will start tomorrow from Dambulla.
