SLAF Aurudu Celebration

The Sri Lanka Air Force Bakmaha Ulela, an annual event organized by the SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit in collaboration with SLAF Station Colombo was held today (05 April 2017) at the ‘Rifle Green’ Grounds of SLAF Station Colombo.
The Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force, Air Marshal Kapila Jayampathy inaugurated the festival as the Chief Guest at the invitation of the Chairperson of SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit Mrs. Anoma Jayampathy. The event was launched with the lighting of the traditional oil lamp.
A range of traditional Avurudu games were organized including ‘PanchaKeliya’, ‘KottaPora’, ‘Kana Mutti’ and tug-of-war. The much anticipated ‘Avurudu Kumaraya’ and ‘Avurudu Kumariya’ pageants were highpoints at the celebrations.
Members of the AFBM and Ladies were present at the event. Officers, Airmen, Airwomen and Civilian Staff of Sri Lanka Air Force attended the Bakmaha Ulela along with their family members.
