Facilitation Ceremony for Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi Sapling

Sri Lanka Air Force facilitated the ceremony for the sapling from the Sri Maha Bodhi, Anuradhapura which is to be replanted in Bodhgaya, India at a colourful ceremony held at Air Force Base Vavuniya on 09 February, 2011.

The traditional reception of Bo-sapling was held in front of a large crowd and taken over by Air Commodore Rohintha Fernando, Base Commander of SLAF Base, Vavuniya.

The sapling was placed in a “Ransivigeya” by Air Commodore Rohintha Fernando after the religious rights and handed over to the Chief Sanga nayaka of  Vavuniya Sri Bodhi Dakshinaramaya.

It was attended by the Maha Sangha led by Siyambalagaswewa Sri Vimalasara Nayake Thera and a large number of devotees including Security Forces Commander of the Wanni Region Major General Sumeda Perera.

District Secretary of Vavuniya Mrs. Charles, DIG Vauniya Region Mr. Prasanna Nanayakkara were other distinguished guests at the occasion.
