The Sri Lanka Air Force has launched a fire operation to douse the fire that broke out in in a clothing store situated on 2nd Cross Street in Pettah, Colombo today morning (27 October 2023). In response to this emergency, the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) swiftly initiated a coordinated effort with the Colombo Fire Brigade to douse the fire and conduct successful rescue operations.

In addition to the initial efforts of seven fire vehicles from the Colombo Fire Brigade, SLAF responded, deploying a team of dedicated firefighters, fire vehicles, and Regiment personnel along with Disaster Assistance and Response Team (DART) from SLAF Station Colombo to the scene of the incident.

 
Most importantly, this successful operation also resulted in the safe rescue of 17 individuals who had become trapped within the affected building.
