JOINT SEARCH AND RESCUE ENDEAVOUR WITH SL NAVY AND INDIAN NAVY

A collaborative exercise involving with Indian Naval Advance Light Helicopter (ALH), Sri Lanka Navy and Sri Lanka Air Force took place from 19 October 2023 to 31 October 2023 for the second consecutive year. The exercise was concluded successfully in the seas off Colombo.
The Sri Lankan Naval Ship Vijayabahu, along with the Indian Navy Advance Light Helicopter - IN 710, participated in the exercise primarily focusing on deck landing and communication exercises between the ships and the helicopters.
The objective of the exercise was to enhance operational readiness and promote interoperability between the armed forces of both nations to conduct coordinated search and rescue operations, and anti-smuggling efforts in the Indian Ocean Region, as well as to strengthen overall cooperation.
Notably, the exercise afforded first-hand experience on deck landing operations for SLAF Pilots within the maritime operational domain, fostering opportunities to collaboratively address common maritime challenges in the Region.
