SLAF ENHANCES FAMILY SUPPORT WITH THE INAUGURATION OF EXPANDED DAYCARE CENTRE IN GUWANPURA
8:34pm on Monday 8th January 2024
The newly constructed Daycare Centre at SLAF Station Colombo was officially opened today (08 January 2024), by the Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force, Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa together with Chairperson SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Enoka Rajapaksa at the Air Force Guwanpura premises.

Daycare facilities within the Sri Lanka Air Force were established as a welfare service for both officers and other rank personnel, providing a supportive environment for the care of their children during the day time. Recognizing the insufficient space in many existing daycare facilities across Sri Lanka Air Force establishments, there was a need to enhance these facilities to meet current demands.

In line with the vision of the Chairperson of the SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Enoka Rajapaksa, the plan to expand the Daycare Centres of the Sri Lanka Air Force was implemented. The inaugural phase of this expansion resulted in the construction of the new Daycare facility at SLAF Station Colombo, featuring ample space and improved standards to meet the existing demand for the children of Air Force members.

The opening ceremony was graced by well-wishers who generously funded this project, members of the Air Force Board of Management along with their spouses, the Commanding Officer of SLAF Station Colombo, Air Commodore Ruwan Chandima and the President Seva Vanitha Unit of SLAF Station Colombo, Mrs. Anusha Darshi. Also in attendance were parents and children utilizing the Day Care facility, as well as a cross-section of officers and other ranks.
