CMETSL'S INAUGURAL MILITARY ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY CONFERENCE SETS STAGE FOR FUTURE COLLABORATION

The inaugural Military Engineering and Technology Conference organized by the College of Military Engineering and Technology Sri Lanka (CMETSL) was held today (16 February 2024) at the Wave N' Lake Navy Banquet Hall in Welisara. Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, General Kamal Guneratne (Retd) attended the ceremony as the chief guest.

During his address, the Defence Secretary highlighted the pivotal role of technology in shaping the future of military operations.

Several distinguished retired senior tri-forces officers were honoured with honorary CMETSL membership certificates by the Secretary to the Ministry of Defence during the event.

The conference, themed "Engineering for the Future: Managing Modern Challenges in Military Technology and Engineering," aimed to enable collaboration between the military and technology sectors, providing a platform for discussions on cutting-edge advancements, security challenges and the role of innovation in modern defence.

President of CMETSL and Director General Engineering of the Sri Lanka Navy, Rear Admiral Ravi Ranasinghe, delivered the welcome address, while the keynote speech was delivered by the founder and CEO of WSO2, Dr. Sanjiva Weerawarna.

The inaugural conference of CMETSL brought together military and technology expertise in the country, with resource personnel from key stakeholders in both sectors presenting their conceptual research papers. Notable attendees included the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa, the Chief of Defence Staff, the Commander of the Navy, the Chief of Staff of the SLAF, other distinguished invitees and tri-forces Engineers.
