AIR DEFENCE GUNNERY TRAINING SCHOOL CELEBRATES 12TH ANNIVERSARY

The Air Defence Gunnery Training School (ADGTS) at SLAF Station Iranamadu celebrated its 12th Anniversary today (23 February 2024). The ADGTS was initially established at SLAF Base Katunayake and later shifted to SLAF Station Iranamadu on 05 February 2012 and became an independent formation in SLAF on 23 February 2013.

The Air Defence Gunnery Training School has been commanded by Seven Commanding Officers and is currently commanded by Squadron Leader BMPI Balasooriya. This training school conducts courses including the Basic Land Based Air Defence (LBAD) Course, LBAD Instructor Course, IGLA Missile Training Course, USFM Radar Training Course, Refreshers Courses and many training courses for officers, airmen and officer cadets.

The day's proceedings commenced with the customary working parade held at school premises and was reviewed by the Chief Instructor, Squadron Leader SADK Samaraweera.

Following the parade, officers, instructors and staff attended the religious activities. Further, conducted a fatigue programme inside the camp premises. In line with the anniversary, Kilinochchi Bus Stop was colour-washed. The day's festivities wrapped up with a friendly Volleyball match.
